Knoll, the preeminent name in classic modern and contemporary furnishings, is making a splash in the residential design arena with the opening of the Knoll Home Design Shop in the heart of Los Angeles’s West Hollywood design district. The 4,000-square-foot space on Robertson Boulevard was designed by the AD100 architecture firm Johnston Marklee,in collaboration with Benjamin Pardo, Knoll design director. Those who continue to equate Knoll with distilled, orthodox modernism—Mies’s Barcelona and Brno chairs upholstered in black leather, Saarinen Tulip tables topped with white marble—will be pleasantly surprised not only by the voluptuous setting, but also by the dizzying array of new and reimagined products. To borrow a hackneyed expression, this is not your grandfather’s Knoll.
“Los Angeles interior designers set the benchmark for modern, with a special passion for stunning materials and finishes,” Pardo notes. “Our L.A. shop experience is designed to embrace and inspire their vision.”
